À propos
A local artist, Ming Yeung portrays endangered species through traditional Chinese painting.
A 27-foot painting that depicts the world's endangered species is being displayed on the second floor of the City Centre Community Centre
Titled 'Beauty Contest', the painting consists of ten endangered animals - only a few of many in the world. It is a story-fused painting with basic information about the animals such as their habitats and what makes them endangered. Ming spent a lot of time researching the animals prior to painting the unique species.
Ming uses a long scroll-like rice paper and was inspired to use the length of paper to symbolize the vast and growing number of vulnerable species around the world. "The longer the painting, the more endangered animals there are."
Ming wants to share the knowledge with the next generation and youngsters, and show how it is terrible that these animals could become extinct. She wants to showcase their beauty and their struggles at the same time, hence the title 'Beauty Contest'.

Ming Yeung
After achieving an 'Artistic Innovation' award in 2019, Ming continues giving voices on her ongoing art project "Art For the World's Endangered Species" through exhibition. She has brought awareness to the possible wildlife species extinction by the potential loss of habitat, climate change, and ocean pollution through her innovative approach in her latest creation 'Beauty Contest'.
Ming has been promoting her style of Chinese painting through exhibitions, teaching classes and artist demonstrations, and interviews in the Lower Mainland since 2002. She is an exceptional artistic person with a very deep commitment to her Chinese Free Style painting style and her unwavering commitment to the world's endangered wildlife species. In 2019, her creation 'Wildlife in the City' was displayed in Art Column on Number 3 road. The work aims to raise awareness of species at risk for future generations. We protect wildlife because they inspire us.
Passing on the traditional Chinese free style painting as her duty.
