À propos

Opening Welcome – The Crossing: Community Heritage Day

Join us at 11:30 a.m. in the historic Knox Sixteen Heritage Church as we begin The Crossing: Community Heritage Day. A community welcome will invite all present to share in this celebration of heritage, reconciliation, and belonging. The opening will begin with a Prayer and Hand Drum Song led by Tyrell King, member of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, honoring the land and its stories. It will also include greetings from the Town of Oakville. This moving opening will set the tone for an afternoon of discovery, culture, and connection in Lions Valley Park.

Organisateur

The Crossing: Community Heritage Day Steering Committee

It brings together Indigenous, settler, and newcomer communities to engage in truth-telling, cross-cultural learning, and reconciliation. The Crossing: Community Heritage Day Steering Committee includes members from Knox Presbyterian Church Sixteen, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Halton Region Heritage Services, Halton Regional Police Services, working in collaboration with the Town of Oakville and many local organizations.
