À propos

Learn more about the Yukon through Yukon Archives' Hidden History exhibits:

Asian History of the Yukon/L'histoire des Asiatiques au Yukon

This exhibit explores the history of Asian immigrants in the Klondike through the 20th century. It's drawn from demographic records, newspapers and photographs. Topics include: the effects of the Second World War on Asian populations in Yukon; discrimination faced by early residents; and issues of equality among citizens.

Black History of the Yukon/L'histoire des Noirs au Yukon

This exhibit highlights Black history in Yukon. It begins mid-19th century with the Klondike Gold Rush years. It moves into the era of Alaska Highway construction. The promise of opportunity for enterprise attracted people regardless of race or status. Individuals are profiled in the context of historical events.

The exhibits will be on display at the Yukon Visitor Information Centre in Whitehorse throughout the duration of Culture Days. Exhibits are accessible during Yukon Visitor Information Centre business hours:

September 19-30, daily from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
