À propos

The Orpheum, a designated National Heritage Site, was built in 1927. Each year the theatre hosts international musicians, popular concerts and unique events; it is also home to the beloved Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

The 1:00pm walking tour is led by the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame and will reveal some secrets of the theatre's history. The tour will conclude with a performance by the VSO School of Music Jazz Combo.

Please note: The 1:00pm guided tour is now sold out, though some walk-ups may be permitted if space allows. We invite you to join us at 2:15pm for a performance by the VSO School of Music Jazz Combo, who will be playing an arrangement of jazz standards in the West Coast Hall of the Orpheum.

After the performance, there will be the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of the Orpheum lobby and Dress Circle at your own pace. No registration is required for the VSO School of Music performance or self-guided tours afterward.

The VSO School of Music Jazz Combo features:

Allison Lee: Bass

Paloma Delisle: Drums

Harmeet Kaur Virdee: Flute

Marta Kalmar: Piano

**Please note: Registration for the guided 1:00pm tour is now full. Some walk-ups may be permitted if space allows. No registration is required for the 2:15pm performance or self-guided tours.

VSO School of Music

Envisioned by Bramwell Tovey (Music Director Emeritus), Arthur H. Willms (Honorary Life Vice President) and Jeff Alexander (former VSO President and CEO) in 2003, the VSO School of Music was created to provide a modern educational institution next to the Orpheum Theatre, where students of all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds could enjoy lifelong learning and the majority of instructors would be members of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
