8th Annual Nurturing Our Roots Pow Wow - Virtual 2020 Edition

The Niagara Regional Native Centre in partnership with the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre is hosting their 8th Annual Nurturing Our Roots Powwow VIRTUALLY this year.

Each year the event is held at Montebello Park in St. Catharines with a full day of festivities. The Powwow is an opportunity to share in the richness of Indigenous culture by enjoying traditional dancing, drumming, singing, crafts, food and drink, and community spirit.

As we cannot come together in person this year, please join us virtually on Sunday 4 October from 4pm to 5:15pm via the livestream on www.FirstOntarioPAC.ca or on the PAC's Facebook and YouTube channels.

The online Powwow experience that will feature traditional dance demonstrations, teachings and songs and will be hosted by the NRNC’s Cultural Resource Coordinator, Joe Shawana and Music Producer/Engineer/Performing Artist, Adrian Harjo.

Presented by the Niagara Regional Native Centre (NRNC) and FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre (PAC) as part of the PAC's new series to continue to amplify the voices of Niagara’s BIPOC communities made possible through funding received from the Canada Council for the Arts – Digital Originals Program.

Organisateur

FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre

Each Year the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre hosts Culture days Activities.

The FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre is a large purpose-built cultural complex located in downtown St. Catharines, Ontario. It opened in 2015 as the result of a partnership between the City of St. Catharines and Brock University, which share the venue for production, performance and learning purposes. It comprises four separate venues: a 770-seat concert hall (Partridge Hall), 300-seat recital hall, 210-seat multi-purpose dance/theatre venue (Robertson Theatre), and the 199-seat Film House.

The creation of the centre spurred a cultural and economic renaissance in downtown St. Catharines along with its neighbouring Meridian Centre and Brock University's Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.
