About

Lego, Art and Science come together in this fun event for the whole family!

Explore the exhibits on view at the PumpHouse, such as 2019’s special offering “Ontario Street: Brewers, Bakers, and Boilermakers – 1830-1970,” and then take part in a number of optional activities that will get your creativity flowing. Join us for building challenges, both large and small: you can re-create a miniature Ontario Street out of Lego or construct stable structures out of foam blocks and bricks! Produce your own artwork using traditional printmaking techniques to take home. Visit the origami station in our Exhibition Hall to bring a map of downtown Kingston to life. Finally, enjoy a plein-air (outdoors) drawing session in the backyard by the beautiful, historic waterfront.

Our Discovery Centre will also be open all day, and don’t forget about our interactive Train Room!

The PumpHouse is free all day so come on out and celebrate Culture Days with us!

City of Kingston Cultural Services

Located in the heart of downtown Kingston, the PumpHouse is the perfect place to visit if you are looking for entertainment and enrichment. Our historic building is Kingston’s first waterworks, providing fresh pumped water to the community – the original pumps can still be seen. We have many events, programs and exhibits to capture your imagination.

The Museum offers learning events throughout the season for museum-goers of all ages: drop-in programming for families, tours and special events for school and camp groups, lectures and programs for adults, and a number of free days, when the museum is accessible to all.

The PumpHouse’s 2019 exhibition, “Ontario Street: Brewers, Bakers and Boilermakers – 1830-1970” focuses on a period when the workers, entrepreneurs and residents of Ontario Street on the Lake Ontario waterfront represented the changing face of Kingston.
