About

St. Saviour’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral will again open its doors for Nelson’s Culture Days. The Church was constructed in 1899 from designs by architect George Dillon Curtis, who went on to later fame completing the Empress Hotel in Victoria, after architect Francis Rattenbury resigned. Rebuilt in 1929 after a disastrous fire, St. Saviour’s is an excellent example of an English perpendicular parish church

In the case of St. Saviour’s interior, in addition to beautiful carved wood architectural highlights, the Church contains numerous stained glass windows and memorial plaques. The stained glass windows are unique and some of the best examples of church stained glass in the Kootenays.

The Church, located on Ward and Silica Streets, will be open from 12 noon until 4 p.m. on both Friday September 27 and Saturday September 28 with tour guides in attendance. They will also be open for regular church service on Sunday.

Culture Days has again afforded a great opportunity to view this Nelson heritage gem or partake in a quiet time in these meditative surroundings.

We are a family of Anglican Christians living in the West Kootenays of British Columbia

in the Diocese of Kootenay which is part of the Anglican Church of Canada

and the worldwide Anglican Communion.

We seek to live in the spiritual path revealed in Jesus Christ, and to be bearers of God's love, light, truth and healing in our world.

We are a community that believes it is more important to support one another in our questions and doubts than it is to have all the answers.

We are an open and inclusive faith community that welcomes everyone and celebrates our diverse expressions of culture, ethnicity, social and educational background, gender identity, and sexual orientation.

Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we invite you to join us.

All who seek a place of prayer, service, and fellowship are welcome.
