About

Melanie J. Fishbane is the author of MAUD: A NOVEL INSPIRED BY THE LIFE OF L.M. MONTGOMERY, who wrote ANNE OF GREEN GABLES and lived in Norval from 1926 to 1935. Melanie will offer a historical fiction writing workshop for ages 12 and up.

This is a great opportunity for youth to learn from a professional writer about the best practices on writing historical fiction, focusing on plotting, character, structure, description, dialogue and research. Note, please arrive on time for this activity. Registration is required.

Melanie Fishbane

MELANIE J. FISHBANE holds an M.F.A. from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and an M.A. from Concordia University and teaches English at Humber College. Her essay is included in L.M. Montgomery's Rainbow Valleys: The Ontario Years 1911-1942. Her YA novel, Maud: A Novel Inspired by the Life of L.M. Montgomery was published in 2017 and was shortlisted for the Vine Award for the Best Canadian Jewish Literature. Melanie lives in Toronto with her partner and their furbabies Merlin and Angel.
