About

transmission tactics

presented by Wall-to-Wall Mural & Culture Festival

co-curated by Tiffany Creyke | Niki Little

featuring Catherine Blackburn | Elisa Harkins | Kablusiak | Tsēmā Igharas

Carrying and speaking an Indigenous language is an act of resistance. Indigenous people connecting—visiting, sharing meals, engaging in communicating and strategising was threatening to the state but the key to survival/thriving. transmission tactics explores the multi-dimensional narrative of Indigenous languages and how they are alive with spirit. The works of Blackburn, Harkins, Igharas and Kabulsiak care for the impossible solidarity of the continuum of language. The works view community as the central activator in this continuance and transmission of our stories and the modes of communication they choose to express.
