Join the Richmond Advocacy and Support Committee (RASC) and the RASC'als and enjoy a play called "Hope Beyond Homelessness" and a variety of skits, spoken word, poetry and art. RASC members are all persons with lived experience of poverty and unstable housing, who tell their stories to encourage social change with local decision makers and leaders and the general public. The 30 min. play "Hope Beyond Homelessness" is one person's journey through the shame and indignity of living on the streets that eventually brings him to make a devastating decision. The RASC stories about coping in Richmond are inspiring and are full of wit and humour. And their photo art installation "Home is..." has been shown at the largest housing conference in BC. This event is not to be missed!

Richmond Poverty Response Committee
The Richmond Poverty Response Committee (PRC) is a coalition of Richmond residents and agencies working together to reduce poverty and the impacts of poverty with research, projects, and public education. See more at www.richmondprc.org. The RASC network is a PRC project providing self-advocacy and leadership training through creative literacy, to Richmond residents living on low incomes. RASC members investigate barriers to participation in civil society and propose changes that would benefit all residents in Richmond. They create art that uncovers their reality, then mount public forums to bring their findings forward. So far they have presented stories about housing and homelessness, food justice and transportation, and are working on health, wellness and safety stories to perform in the near future. RASC membership is open to all low income Richmond residents and new members are encouraged to inquire at [email protected].
