The newest park within the Conservation Halton Parks is formerly known as Kelso Quarry, and temporarily known as Area 8. From the late-1950s to the mid-1990s, the area provided limestone as one of the largest aggregate producers in Canada. Today, the former quarry has been transformed into a beautiful natural area, nestled into the escarpment, with trails that run along the outside. Already, wildlife has begun to return to the area, with species like Widow Skimmer Dragonfly, Gray Tree Frog, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Greater Yellowlegs, and Area 8’s protected Bobolinks, making use of the restored habitat.
