This year's Culture Days Celebration will be held at two locations: The Spark Centre and the Public Library, from Saturday, October 16th to Thursday, October 21st. Saturday the 16th starts with the grand opening of the Credit Union Spark Centre, Weyburn's brand new recreation and culture facility. With free guided facility tours and drop in programming, this is a great opportunity to check out all the facility has to offer. In our new art gallery, join in as we create a public art mural. The Weyburn Crocus Quilter's guild will be demonstrating the many steps involved in creating a finished quilt. The Weyburn Woodcarvers will be hosting a carving event. Members of our Pottery Club will be demonstrating hand building and throwing skills in our new pottery studio. Metis Local 87 will have beading kits, examples of traditional bead work, and a cultural display. Ever wonder how Ukrainian Easter Eggs are made? Anastasia will be joining us to show you how. The Weyburn Public Library will be hosting a Maker Space. In the kitchen area, there will be a Cultural Sampling Menu featuring Metis, German and Filipino foods. Sunday October 17th from 2-4pm, head to the Library for a discussion on Canadian origin stories centered around the exhibit, "A Rightful Place". What brought you to Canada? Has your family always been here, or did they also immigrate? Share your story with us! On October 21st, at 7pm the Weyburn Public Library is holding an book launch and author reading by Carol Rose GoldenEagle, with guest Bernadette Wagner in support of her new release "eSSENTIAL INGREDIENTs".
