About
Join us for a talk and a tour of this installation, and pick up a flyer for additional background on each tableau. Try a paper scavenger hunt to find design elements that tell the stories. Describe your favourite park or square and what image or artifact might best convey what you love about it.
Rina Fraticelli and Schuster Gindin are the co-authors of Allan Gardens | People, Power & the Park, a paperback book illustrated with hundreds of beautifully printed colour photographs, details the installation and its individual tableaux, and the process and events behind the installation’s inception, development and role in the community of the park.
Rina Fraticell is an award-winning filmmaker and cultural leader, having led two National Film Board of Canada studios and founded Women in View. She is known for her work in arts equity and sustainability and has been a translator, dramaturge, and author of "The Status of Women in Canadian Theatre". Former Executive Director of Tangled Art & Disability and Kickstart Disability Arts, she launched McMaster University's Socrates Project and Toronto Metropolitan University’s Imagine the Park. Rina received the Toronto Arts Foundation Celebration of Cultural Life Award in 2024.
Schuster Gindin is an artist, photographer, and curator with work featured in solo and group exhibitions across North America, including A Space and The Canadian Museum of Civilization. Her installation "Playing House" examined domestic architecture and female roles. She has contributed to community art integration by transforming Wychwood Barns into a public art venue and founded Side Space Gallery, which showcased diverse art and performances for six years.

Organizer
Ontario Culture Days
The Ontario Culture Days Festival is an annual celebration of arts, culture and heritage taking place each fall across the province. Each year, we work with organizers of all disciplines to produce this province-wide festival. Organizers host programs throughout Ontario and invite the public to participate for free.
Ontario Culture Days lives at the local level. We support organizers from the smallest hamlets to the largest cities, while coordinating with other national and provincial Culture Days partners. We support the success of our sector colleagues through resources and network development, while highlighting the breadth and heterogeneity of Ontario’s arts and culture to the wider public.
