About

Join us in welcoming Rithika and Maya Jeristus for a livestreamed dance performance. Their performance is a contemporary fusion incorporating the traditional Indian art form of Bharatnatyam. Bharatanatyam is the oldest classical dance tradition in India, and is indigenous to Tamil Nadu. The form of dance is slow moving, but at times fast and fluid and hence is also called Fire Dance.

Markham Arts Council

The Markham Arts Council was originally started with a mission to serve and enhance our community’s well being by providing arts and cultural education and awareness while supporting the work and development of visual, literary and performing artists. Over the years, the Arts Council has worked on collaborative projects and initiatives by providing emerging and established artists with opportunities to grow and learn. Our aim is to build a stronger, more diverse yet unified arts community that encompasses literary arts, experimental art, visual arts, new media, music, dance, performance and dramatic arts.
