About

Castlegar Sculpturewalk began in 2010 featuring just ten sculptures – cut to today, with twenty-nine pieces in our annual rotating program, and more than triple that number throughout the city and region, and it’s easy to see why.

Castlegar’s known as The Sculpture Capital of Canada™! Now in our 14th year, Sculpturewalk’s vibrant, dynamic public art program has garnered world-wide attention and captured the hearts of the community.

Each sculpture along the walk is available for sale and lease, and all viewers are encouraged to vote for their favourite piece via ballot: the sculpture with the highest vote wins the People’s Choice Award which is purchased by the City of Castlegar for their permanent collection. Combined cash prizes of $7,000 are also awarded to the top three People’s Choice placements, and the top three Artistic Merit placements (juried by professional artists and curators).

The support and vision of the City of Castlegar, local businesses, community, and of course, the artists, have enabled the Sculpturewalk to thrive, and we look forward to knocking your socks off with another year of amazing art!

*Maps can also be found at City Hall and the Public Library.

Castlegar Sculpturewalk

Castlegar Sculpturewalk brings roughly 30 new sculptures to the downtown of Castlegar every May, since 2010. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favourite sculpture until October 15th. Awards winners are announced in December at another public community event hosted by us called the 'Night of Fire'.

Our mission is that Castlegar Sculpturewalk ignites creativity and strengthens community

connections by showcasing exceptional public sculptures. We inspire artists, residents, and visitors alike, provoking thought and highlighting the essential role of art in our lives.

Our vision is by nurturing a vibrant and inclusive community that sparks curiosity, we
