About
As part of Nuit Blanche Saskatoon, people of all ages are invited to join us to create their own woodcut print! Each guest will take home a Saskatchewan landscape print that is ready for easy framing in a standard size. By using a printmaking technique that is being pioneered by the artists of YXE Backyard Studios, participants will use pre-cut blocks made on a CNC machine and a combination of relief printmaking techniques. Jacob Semko and Jeni Ly will be set up from 7 pm to midnight on Saturday, September 20th in the back parking lot at the Saskatchewan Craft Council in Saskatoon. Stop by to view their exhibition "Roadside Series: A Saskatchewan Printmaking Story" at the Saskatchewan Craft Council Gallery and join Ly and Semko to create a print of your own!
Jacob Semko and Jeni Ly are collaborative printmakers, designers, and co-founders of YXE Backyard Studios, an experimental fine arts printmaking and fabrication studio based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Together, they merge traditional craftsmanship with inventive processes, often developing custom tools and approaches that expand the possibilities of printmaking. Jacob is a classically trained printmaker, educator, and fabricator. Jeni is a self-taught artist, designer, and producer whose work blends form, function, and joy.
