About

Indigenous Art and Culture Awareness Week is an initiative featuring various organizations within the Heart of Georgian Bay who wish to highlight the work of Indigenous creatives through various mediums, such as dance, food, literature, music, visual arts, and crafts.

Since its inception, the goal of Indigenous Art and Culture Awareness Week has been to promote and preserve Indigenous traditions, stories, and practices. This community-driven project creates authentic experiences, many of which are free, for residents and visitors to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Indigenous art and culture in North Simcoe.

The fourth Indigenous Art and Culture Awareness Week will take place from September 21 to 28, 2025. We invite you to join us in celebrating and honouring one of the many diverse cultures that shape the Heart of Georgian Bay.

Organizer

Culture Midland

Culture is what connects our community. It includes the art, heritage, stories, languages, and traditions that reflect who we are and where we come from. Culture permeates all aspects of our lives. It's the music we listen to, the food we eat, the art we create, and the festivals we attend. It's the land we live on, the languages we speak, and the stories we tell. Culture is what brings our community to life.

Culture Midland seeks to celebrate and support the diverse cultural landscape in the Heart of Georgian Bay, enhancing the quality of life and cultural awareness of all residents and visitors.
