Organizer
Tamarack Arts Association
The Tamarack Arts Association is an incorporated not-for-profit organization based in Timmins, Ontario. Our mandate is to advance public appreciation of the arts in Northern Ontario by producing public art exhibitions, presentations, and performance arts events, and to provide a forum for qualified artists from Northern Ontario to exhibit, present, or perform their artistic works and be paid industry wages. The Tamarack Festival is the multidisciplinary arts festival we produce annually in Timmins. This initiative builds community by providing an under-served public with access to a variety of professional arts experiences within their hometown. It is the organization's deepest conviction that art is one of the best means of building community. It brings diverse people together in meaningful ways, builds empathy, and sparks new ways of thinking about and engaging with the world. The festival's programming is curated to promote diversity and inclusion, and support equity-deserving groups, because ALL community members deserve to feel safe and valued in the community where they live.
