PlayConnect Reading: Marilo Nuñez
Join Hamilton-based playwright Marilo Nuñez in a reading of her recent work. Participants will be able to learn about Marilo, listen to the reading, and ask questions. Ontario Culture Days is partnering with the Playwrights Guild of Canada and their PlayConnect program to host this reading. Register below to reserve your spot! About Marilo Nuñez: Marilo Nuñez is a Chilean Canadian playwright, director, actor and academic. She was the 2018 recipient of the Hamilton Arts Awards for Established Theatre Artist and was recently nominated for the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prize. Her play Huinca was commissioned by Milagro Theatre in Portland, OR and premiered in January 2020. Currently a member of Natural Resources, Factory Theatre’s playwright’s unit for established writers, she was Playwright-in-Residence at Aluna Theatre in 2016 and was McMaster University’s first Playwright-in-Residence in 2018. She was founding Artistic Director of Alameda Theatre Company, a company dedicated to developing the new work of Latinx Canadian playwrights. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from University of Guelph and is currently obtaining her Ph D. in Theatre & Performance Studies at York University.

Ontario Culture Days and Playwrights Guild of Canada
Ontario Culture Days is co-hosting this program with the Playwrights Guild of Canada (PGC). Launched in April 2017, PlayConnect is PGC's revamped version of the Canada Council Readings Program. It connects playwrights with communities and new audiences by providing an opportunity for travel funding, promotion, and professional development. As a network liaison, PGC ensures that the program is accessible and inclusive of a wide-ranging group of artists and audiences. *PlayConnect is funded by the Canada Arts Council and open to full members of PGC.
