About
Join Rosemary Burd at Gallery 881 as she shows how she embroiders her own shaky iPhone photographs to create her works of art. Learn how you can stitch with embroidery and sashiko threads on a sample photograph, and then apply this technique to your own photograph.
All materials — sample photograph, assorted threads, needles, and fabric tape — are supplied. Please bring your own printed photograph (max 5x7 inches). If your photo is precious, bring a reprint or photocopy on card stock.
PrintMaker Studio can also provide professional printing services in advance of the workshop. Please contact us at least 7 days prior to the event at [email protected] or visit online at printmaker-studio.com to arrange printing.
Workshop limited to 10 participants. Pre-registration required.

Gallery 881 is a lens-based contemporary art gallery located in Vancouver’s Strathcona neighbourhood. We promote the photographic arts through exhibitions, art sales, workshops, and collaborative programming.
Committed to fostering an inclusive arts community, the gallery supports diverse voices from emerging to established artists and creates meaningful connections between artists and the public.
As a founding member of the Vancouver Art Walk, we are part of a vibrant network of arts spaces with monthly public events that highlight the city’s Arts District.
To support our free and accessible programming, please consider joining our Annual Membership Program, which helps sustain our mission of keeping art open, engaging, and available to all.
Gallery 881 is proudly sponsored by PrintMaker Studio, a fine art printer and custom picture framer, and a Canson Infinity Certified Print Lab.
