About

Visit the Mann Art Gallery for our three-event Culture Days weekend!

*Proof of vaccination or recent negative test, both accompanied by ID, is required to enter the gallery, but not required for the outdoor art installation tour.* More details below.

1. Vault Tours: Enjoy the unique opportunity to see how the Mann Art Gallery cares for the almost 4,000 artworks - paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, textiles, and more - in our Permanent Collection. Meet Tia Furstenberg, the Registrar, and enter the vault two people at a time. Learn what it means for us to acquire artwork to preserve and present the artistic heritage of our region.

2. Outdoor Art Installation Tour with artists Leah Dorion and Ashley Smith: meet Leah and Ashley and learn about their mentorship project this summer. Walk with them and learn about the three outdoor installations around the Mann Art Gallery - the Metis Lobstick, Bison Hunt, and Willow Meditation Walkway. Tours begin at 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm. The artists will be removing the walkway and bison figures beginning at 2:00 pm. (As this activity is entirely outdoors, proof of vaccination or recent negative test is not required. Please wear masks and keep appropriate distance).

3. Children and adults can join Educator Lana Wilson in the Studio for a painting activity. We will be adding our own drawings and paintings on top of painted canvases donated to us by artist Leslie Emile to create collaborative artworks which participants can take home.

Visitors will also enjoy the opportunity to view the three gallery exhibitions on display by Diana Chabros, Hanna Yokozawa Farquharson, and Leah Dorion.

COVID-19 safety:

1) all visitors must wear masks in the Vault and the Education Studio. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided. Visitors should not come to the gallery if they are experiencing any symptoms of illness, including flu or cold-like symptoms.

2) to enter the gallery, all visitors 12 years old and older must provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test (taken within the past 72 hours). ID must also be presented by anyone 18+ and unaccompanied minors 12+.

3) visitors must provide their name and phone number for contact-tracing purposes.

Please note that while the main areas of the Mann Art Gallery and one washroom are accessible (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.) not all areas of the Vault are.
