The Element of Fire and the Harvest: Community Artwork with Holly Tennant

In partnership with Heritage Abbotsford Society, join artist Holly Tennant and participate in a collaborative community art project. This session is curated by Maryanne Landrie (Heritage Abbotsford Society Event Manager and Selxwí:chel Arts & Culture Day chairperson)

Artists of all ages and abilities are invited to contribute to a 12-foot painted banner with the theme "The Element of Fire and the Harvest." Métis artist Holly Tennant will guide participants though the thematic background and creative process through conversation and demonstration. Participants are invited to contribute based on their own inspiration.

Free, all ages and no registration required. All materials provided, but please consider bringing smock or painting clothes if participating in the process.

Holly Tennant is a multi-media artist from Chilliwack. She also volunteers her time as Region 2 Captain of the Hunt for BC Métis Assembly of Natural Resources and holds a Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Food Science and Management. Her preferred visual arts media include handmade and small batch books, calligraphy, pen and ink, charcoals, acrylics, comic illustration and watercolours. In her spare time Holly enjoys swimming, her dogs and Métis jigging.

Maryanne Landrie is an Old-School Artist born and raised in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Maryanne is a mother to three grown daughters and Kokum to one grandson. She and her husband Cam live in Chilliwack, BC with their three cats. Maryanne’s work has been displayed in both shows and galleries. She founded Cedar, Sage & Sweetgrass, an Indigenous artist collective in partnership with her cousin Pat Calihou, in 2018. Maryanne serves as Heritage Abbotsford Society’s Events Manager and is the Chairperson of the Selxwí:chel Arts & Culture Day Planning Committee.
