THE ART OF FRAMING ARTWORK I & II WITH HEATHER CLINE

Saturday October 14th & Sunday October 15th, 2023

from 10am - 3:30pm

Hosted in-person at the Dickson Community Centre (Swift Current)

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP SERIES

The Art of Framing Artwork is a free workshop series that takes places over 2-days and although it is not necessary that participants attend both sessions it is strongly encourages. The workshops sessions run from 10am - 3:30pm with a 45-minute lunch break. Please bring your own lunch. No other materials or previous experience is required.

Pre-registration is encouraged as space is limited to 15 participants. Register by emailing: [email protected].

ABOUT WORKSHOP SESSION I - SATURDAY

Includes a historical tour of general framing style and methods, with a spotlight on contemporary framing strategies. Participants will learn practical considerations, including: framing aesthetics, archival concerns, weighing economy, simple method for matting small-scale artworks on paper, how to properly hinge mount a work, and other how-tos.

ABOUT WORKSHOP SESSION II - SUNDAY

Features approaches to framing works on panel and canvas, including demonstration of how to properly prepare a wood panel and a simple shadow box method for framing small-scale works on paper.

ABOUT HEATHER CLINE

Heather Cline is an artist based in Saskatchewan. She is fascinated by how personal history intersects with human geography. In her most recent art work she is exploring what geography reveals about human occupation through a series of landscapes paintings based on aerial views of the prairie. Cline has her MFA from the University of Saskatchewan and has exhibited extensively across Canada. Her work can be found in many public and private collections, including the Colart Collection, the Remai Modern and the Saskatchewan Arts Board. Learn more at: heathercline.ca
