A Reflection: Beauty of Kathak and the Immigrant Connect
This session will include a brief discourse on the history of Kathak, a personal reflection of the influence of this graceful art form on my immigrant journey and a semi-classical Kathak performance.

Sharanya KC is a classically trained dancer and choreographer from Chennai, India who has been dancing from the age of 7. She has 14 years of Indian classical dance training including 7 years of Bharatanatyam training from Bharata Kalanjali (the tutelage of Padma Bhushan dance power couple, VP Dhananjayan and Shanta Dhananjayan.) and 7 years of Kathak training under Guru Smt.Jigyasa Giri, Founder and Creative Director of Devaniya, Dakshin Gharana of Kathak. After relocating Canada in 2016 she has performed in numerous festivals, cultural events and religious ceremonies in Vancouver and Toronto. Her most recent performances include festivals like ROOTS by SAASC, Barrie, World Fest 2025 and TD Festival of South Asia by Gerrard Street Bazaar.
