About
David Bell is a wood turner who has been involved in woodworking for nearly 40 years. The craft of woodworking and its lustre began in the basement of a stone farm house on the outside the picturesque village of Elora, Ontario. David’s interest in working with wood was inspired by his grandfather. Thus began a continuing fascination with all things wood.
Achievements include an introduction to cabinet making, AutoCAD, welding qualifications, mechanical maintenance diploma (Certified Millwright – C of Q), Certified NDE Technician and some related night school courses. David is employed by Ontario Power Generation and serves as a Mechanical Maintainer Technician in the Nuclear field. David is the past president of the Grey Bruce Woodturners Guild in Kincardine, Ontario and is still an active member. He is also a member of the Thames Valley Woodturners Guild in London, Ontario.
David’s wood turnings have been featured in a few galleries throughout southern Ontario. Other pieces of his work have been donated to charitable and special fund raising events. David has been featured in a few local newspapers in Southern Ontario. David has demonstrated various aspects of his wood turning methods to local guilds and groups throughout Ontario. David has also been teaching his craft through Lee Valley in Waterloo, Ontario and Woodchuckers in Toronto, Ontario
