Please join us for a mapping and storytelling activity where we invite you to reflect on what home means to you; is it a place on a map? Ancestral origins? Is it shelter? Is it something we choose? A feeling? A person? A community? Can we define home in ways that transcend physical, political, cultural and imaginary boundaries?

There will be a large map printed where participants can use push pins to indicate where they were born, places they've lived and write what home is to them.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition currently on view, Shifting Shelter by Vessna Perunovich and curated by Magda Gonzalez-Mora.

Shifting Shelter establishes a thoughtful introduction to the politics of transcultural migrations in the oscillating global system, at a crossroads where displacement manifests itself as one of the predominant geopolitical characteristics of living generations. Perunovich teaches us how to confront a place in our lifetime where past, present and future have lapsed, understanding the phenomenon of migration as a continuous and dynamic line of destabilization, of rooting and uprooting, which manifest a need to link past with the current. Perunovich’s reflections on her own life and the human condition universally, attempt to counteract and resist the setbacks of the present and offer a key contribution to discourses related to cross-cultural migrations.
