About

The Annual Lumsden ScareCrow Festival September 23, 2023 is more than just a one day event. The community takes pride in the event and starts putting up their scarecrow displays a week before. There are also in-person scarecrow and lantern workshops weeks before the event. Lumsden, the little Town with aprox. 1800 residents welcome visitors to the beautiful area in the QuAppelle Valley, the fall colors of the valley are a great backdrop for this festival. The Festival has something for everyone. Tour the town with all the scarecrow displays, there is a bbq challenge, family carnival by the Heritage Home, Historical Site tours and car show at the museum, street market (70 vendors) from noon to 4 pm, horse wagon rides, beer gardens with music, a wide variety of food options, animated storytime in Lion's park, lantern parade following the storytime, outdoor big screen movie and then the Firework display that can be seen from anywhere in Lumsden. The following week we end our activities with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation ceremony coordinated by the Town of Lumsden, Library, Museum, Lion's Club, RCMP and LES.
