About

Join us at City Hall following the Culture Days flag raising for the opening reception of the City of St. Catharines’ 17th Annual Juried Exhibition, Current. This special event invites the community to come together in celebration of local artistic talent and the official launch of this year’s exhibition.

Current explores the forces that shape the Niagara Region—its waterways, histories, and the dynamic energies of the present moment. Featuring a diverse range of artistic practices, the exhibition highlights how artists are responding to the literal and metaphorical currents that influence how we live, create, and connect today.

“The Niagara Region is shaped by currents — of water, of industry, of migration, and of culture,” says Chelsea Ryan, Culture Coordinator, Public Art. “This exhibition encourages artists to reflect on both the physical flows that define this place and the contemporary currents — social, political, emotional, and technological — that shape our shared experience.”

Mingle with participating artists, enjoy light refreshments, and be among the first to experience this thought-provoking exhibition, featuring works that engage with themes of movement, transformation, environment, culture, and change.

All are welcome to attend this free event and celebrate the vibrant creative community that makes Niagara unique.
