First - we'll introduce and explore the Cyanotype printing process using botanicals and harnessing the sun to print on fabric scarves

Second - we'll introduce some introductory hand embroidery stitches that participants can use to embellish and customize their scarves

All participants will go home with their scarves and some embellishment supplies to allow them to continue their creative journey.

Space is limited to 15 participants.

Sun & Stitch

Sun & Stitch is a new collaborative venture of 2 Brampton residents who are members of the Brampton Arts Organization. We are anxious to provide artistic adventures to our residents. Our first artist in this collaborative is Aditi Ganeev Sangwan who is a visual artist and art educator and founder of Art Studio Izza a collaborative focusing on contemporary art, education, photography and design through community engagement workshops. Aditi earned her Phd in Visual Art from Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan India. She has over 2 decades of experience as a visual artist and academic scholar. She has successfully conducted workshops and presented papers in seminars at several prestigious institutions. Our second artist is Sandra Gilmer a long time resident of Brampton. Sandra has been a life long sewer of clothes and home decor. She has expanded her repertoire to include quilting, hand embroidery and hand embellishment to her art quilts with beads and stitching. Sandra is currently the Vice President on the Executive team of the Brampton Quilters' Guild Inc. She has participated in all the Brampton Arts Organization's Artist Summer and Winter Markets and has brought both her own and the Guild's members artistic works of art for appreciation to our Brampton residents.
