Culture Days will return September 20 – October 13, 2024.

    The Kick-off will feature free art activities like collaborative mural making, community puzzling, pop-up painting, and Indian block-printing.

    There will be a historic walking tour by the Town Crier and a public art tour of the Brightening Barriers exhibition.

Enjoy free, interactive performances and art activities, learn about community arts organizations, and take guided tours of downtown Barrie’s history and public art.

10am - 1pm: Interactive Mamma Mia! Performance by Kempenfelt Community Players

10am - 1pm: Indian block-printing activity by Angela Aujla

10am - 3pm: Community puzzling activity by Andrew Maize

10am - 4pm: Collaborative Mural Painting with local Metis artist Monica Loney

10am - 4pm: Pop-up painting class by Art Nation

11:30am: Poetry performance by Ty the Poetess, accompanied with contemporary dancer Jay T.G. Turner

11:55am: Hip-Hop performance by Myndset

12pm: Historic Walking Tour with Barrie’s Town Crier, presented by Heritage Barrie

12:15pm: Musical performance by Alyssa Tess

1pm - 1:45pm: Salsa Beats performance and dance lessons (no partner required!)

1pm: Brightening Barriers Public Art Guided Walking Tour

2pm - 4pm: Rock/Blues Performance by catl. presented by the Downtown Barrie BIA

4:30pm: Rock performance by Bootlegged the Band

The Kick-off will also neighbor:

- Open Air Dunlop, hosted by the Downtown BIA, where pedestrians can roam freely and enjoy the streetscape, shopping, live music, patios, buskers, and various art and family activities.

- Barrie Farmer's Market from 8am - 12noon, where you can find unique arts and crafts, delicious seasonal offerings, as well as free music and activities.

- The Barrie Pubic Library's Comic Fest and Game On events at the downtown branch from 10am - 3pm, featuring cosplaying, vendors, a gaming tournament, and more.
