About
The Government of Canada, through Parks Canada and the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada (HSMBC) will host a plaque unveiling ceremony to commemorate the Penman Textile Mill as a site of national historic significance. Penman Textile Mill was a knitting mill complex and the first plant of the Penman Manufacturing Company, which would become the largest Canadian knitting firm at the turn of the 20th century. The mill’s operations significantly contributed to the economic growth of Paris, Ontario, and exemplifies the broader industrialization trends of the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Canada.
Join us for an unveiling ceremony beginning at 11 AM and followed by a light lunch reception. The unveiling ceremony will take place at the former site of Penman Textile Mill, which is now a residential property, with the support of the Board of Directors of Penman Manor. This location offers attendees the opportunity to directly connect with the historical significance of the mill and its impact on the industry and community.
