About

Peter Sacco, Niagara filmmaker and author, created Historical Niagara to spotlight the Niagara Region’s history, legends, myths and facts as well as the enigmatic, obscure places and tidbits of history that are less well-known to people, especially residents of the Niagara Region.

A look inside the Heritage Designated Central Fire Station in Welland and Central Station Education Initiative's project to preserve and to re-use the 100-year-old Station forms part of this opening episode of Historical Niagara’s Second Season. One of the most uniquely designed fire stations in North America, Central Fire Station was built in the Edwardian Classical style in 1920. It still houses its original brass fire poles, master control panel for street corner alarm boxes and 1957 LaFrance Quad Pumper.
