This event brings together a dynamic lineup of African and Afro-diasporic voices sharing original poetry, monologues, songs, and performance pieces that reflect their personal journeys, heritage, and experiences.

The public can expect a powerful, soulful atmosphere filled with raw emotion, creative expression, and community connection. The event will feature live performances, open mic opportunities, and music that celebrates the diversity and richness of African identity. It is a space for dialogue, healing, celebration, and visibility—a platform where stories are told, voices are heard, and cultural pride shines.

Whether you're an artist, art lover, or simply curious, VocaAfrik offers an unforgettable experience rooted in authenticity, creativity, and empowerment.

Organizer

African Women Acting (AWA)

African Women Acting (AWA) is a non-profit organization committed to supporting and showcasing the artistic talents of women of African descent through multidisciplinary platforms. Our mandate is to amplify African voices, foster cultural expression, and create inclusive spaces where art, performance, and community engagement thrive.

Year-round, we organize arts-based programming including live performances, cultural festivals, artist residencies, workshops, and collaborative community events. These initiatives celebrate diversity and promote access to the arts, particularly among underrepresented groups.

For this year’s Ontario Culture Days, we are thrilled to present a live performance by VocaAfrik, a vibrant vocal ensemble rooted in the rich choral traditions of Africa and the African Diaspora. Their work aligns with our mission by offering audiences an immersive musical experience that celebrates African heritage, identity, and storytelling through powerful harmonies and soul-stirring performances.
