Organizer
Islamic Art of British Columbia (iabc) Art by Nikhat Izhar Qureshi
My name is Nikhat Qureshi and I am excited to welcome you to a hands-on introduction to basic Arabic Calligraphy. A self-taught, award-winning visual Artist & Calligrapher, my passion for this art is driven by the religious writings and poetic texts composed artistically. As an explorer of Islamic Art, I briefly studied the basics of "Nastaliq" script of Calligraphy at the tutelage of a non-traditional calligraphy master from Pakistan and Thuluth Script from the master calligrapher in Canada. This sacred art of writing requires a lifetime to master however I am passionate about sharing knowledge at any stage of learning. My work has been part of the exhibitions in the USA, Pakistan and now in Canada. This demo workshop is a humble effort on my part to share the gift of creativity. It is designed to be enjoyed by everyone even those without the previous knowledge of Arabic.
