About

REndezviews is an event showcasing ArchiShorts films created by local and international filmmakers, and curated by Ted Landrum, Instructor at the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture. Architecture and Design Film Festival prompted filmmakers earlier in 2023 to show how architecture and urban environments can tell stories. (http://adff.ca/)

Alongside ArchiShorts, Storefront Manitoba will launch the pilot episode of a film series called Design Matters. Each episode explores a different built project in Winnipeg and considers how design addresses critical issues including sustainability, accessibility, and cultural significance. The pilot episode will feature the Oodena Celebration Circle at The Forks, designed by HTFC Planning and Design.

Organizer

Storefront Manitoba

Storefront Manitoba is a charitable organization that advances critical discussion, exploration, and celebration of the design culture in Manitoba. The Winnipeg Design Festival is committed to building upon the culture of design in Winnipeg, one to rival that of other great design capitals around the world. Winnipeg is recognized internationally as a city with unique artistic and cultural offerings. StorefrontMB’s ambition is to cultivate and celebrate local design culture and further propel Winnipeg’s reputation as a cultural hub.

The Winnipeg Design Festival builds interdisciplinary relationships and partnerships with industry, like-minded organizations and institutes that promote the value of design and the city. It also endeavours to connect professionals, designers, artists and industry with the broader community in order to foster design-based dialogue. Festival events are the primary mode of engagement and include lectures, forums, interactive installations, tours, and exhibits.
