About
Orange Shirt Day is an event, created in 2013, designed to educate people and promote awareness in Canada about the Indian residential school system and the impact it has had on Indigenous communities for over a century—an impact recognized as a cultural genocide, and an impact that continues today. Quesnel will be having a Water Ceremony where the Fraser and Quesnel Rivers meet, to do offerings and drumming to honour the Residential School Survivors and those that did not come home. Then we will be having a stand in support of Orange Shirt Day and Every Child Matters to bring awareness to this sad part of Canadian History.
COVID safety protocols will be inplace, the water ceremony is by invitation only for elder survivors. The Stand in Support of on Front Street will have orange marks where people are being directed to stand and those will be the 6 feet apart to maintain the Social Distancing directive by Public Health,
