Truth and Reconciliation
Gathering in Honour is an exhibition featuring local Indigenous artist Lucia O’Connor Laford and the late John Laford. Many of the works in the exhibition, by John Laford, are from the collection of the artist's family and have never been previously displayed. The exhibition will also feature many other celebrated Indigenous artists from the Art Gallery of Algoma’s permanent collection. Tours of the exhibition will be available at 12pm and 2pm. The Art Gallery of Algoma is a part of the Ontario Culture Days Regional Hub Program.
This event is free and will be accepting optional pay-what-you-may donations for admission.
Art Gallery of Algoma
The AGA was founded as a non-profit public art gallery and incorporated on July 7, 1975. Established by a group of dedicated volunteers and art enthusiasts, the AGA honours its roots as a community organization with its mission of celebrating culture, educating visitors, and enriching lives through the visual arts. The AGA’s vision is to be a premier visual arts institution in northern Ontario, gaining national recognition and international partnerships. With the appointment of Director Jasmina Jovanovic in August 2011, the AGA looks forward to the next phase in its evolution: establishing and implementing exciting new initiatives, becoming more involved in the national contemporary art scene, and continuing to uphold its multifaceted mandate.
