About

October is Women’s History Month in Canada. Join us for HERSTORY: Extraordinary Women of Mission – a video production sponsored by Valley Tech of Mission BC - about local women ranging from entrepreneurs, educators and politicians to artists, athletes, caregivers and community activists. Each woman has played an integral role in the community and you will have the opportunity to hear their stories and be inspired by them.

The video will feature interviews of former honourees and content from materials acquired through the “Paths & Pathfinders: Women of Mission Program”, established by Archivist Val Billesberger in 1996 to facilitate the preservation of local women’s records and celebrate their diverse achievements, hopes and dreams. Now in its 25th year, the program has documented the lives of 105 women.

Mission Community Archives

The Mission Community Archives provides a broad range of services designed to ensure the ongoing collection, preservation and accessibility of the community’s documentary heritage (i.e., documents, photographs, maps, digital objects, sound and audio-visual recordings, etc.). This mandate is achieved through the pro-active collecting and conserving of materials to ensure its integrity and long-term availability; preparing finding aids and special resources to facilitate public access; providing reference services and educational programs for the public and students; and developing web-based resources.
