About
Join us on September 21, 2024, from 1 to 3 pm for a special event as part of BC Culture Days and the OHS/MAV Speaker Series. Award-winning author Cynthia LeBrun will present her latest novel, "Black Sunflowers," a deeply moving story inspired by the vivid memories of her mother-in-law, who grew up in Soviet-occupied Ukraine. This event holds particular significance for Vernon, which has a large Ukrainian population that also felt the ripples of Soviet occupation. The presentation will include a reading from the novel, followed by a Q&A session where attendees can engage with the author. Copies of "Black Sunflowers" will be available for purchase, and Cynthia will be signing books after the presentation.
Admission is by donation at the door with funds going to support humanitarian relief in Ukraine.
