About
Doors Open is returning to Halton Hills!
The Kirkpatrick Blacksmith Shop is just one of many locations available to explore during Doors Open Halton. Built in 1857, the Kirkpatrick Blacksmith Shop is an example of post-and-beam construction. Named for Sid Kirkpatrick, Limehouse’s last blacksmith (who took an interest in blacksmithing and eventually purchased this shop in the early 1920s), the shop features its set-back, white-washed walls, stone floors, wooden rafters, support beams and the original forge with an interior portion of the chimney intact.
