About
As part of the City of Abbotsford Culture Days, join Heritage Abbotsford Society's Christina Reid to learn the art of card weaving. Participants will produce their own weaving during this session though group and individual instruction. Card weaving is a method of weaving strong, decorative bands such as horse reigns, trims, and belts. The technique has been used for about 3,000 years and requires very little equipment.
Free, all materials included, registration required. This activity takes place in the Clearbrook Library small meeting room. Registrants can check in with reception upon arrival.
Christina Reid has lived in the Fraser Valley since immigrating to Canada from Sweden in 1989. She holds a Master’s Degree in Archaeology and Heritage from Leicester University (UK). Christina is the Executive Director of Heritage Abbotsford Society, and has worked with experiential, experimental, and research archaeology since the late 1980s. This workshop is the result of combining the three disciplines with Christina’s passion for all things related to historic textiles and applied arts.
