About

Drop-in and enjoy a live solo performance in the Abbotsford Recreation Centre Lobby from Darryl Klassen of JD Miner. Free, no registration required!

Darryl moved to Langley from Calgary some 40 years ago, back when Langley was a quiet little farm town. His family roots meander all the way back to Saskatchewan. He has studied engineering and philosophy, been a truck driver, a dishwasher a firefighter and many other things. For 25 years he worked with Indigenous communities on issues around economic and social development focused on reconciliation

Darryl is primarily self-taught on the guitar and banjo. His music is a ragtag collection of songs about boats, trains, coffee, (and some women too), old cowboys, and some foot stomping guitar and banjo instrumentals. Some songs are originals, other are covers. He'll get that banjo ringing, fingerpick a tune or two and then flat-pick some bluegrass on that old six string guitar. He calls it "Highbrow Hillbilly" Music
