Early 20th century Burnaby was home to several institutions that sought to reform their residents, including the Oakalla Prison Farm, Home of the Friendless, and more. Learn about the people in the institutions, and consider what these places tell us about the early history of BC.

We are a place Where History Comes to Life – stroll down the streets of our 1920s tram-stop community. Period costumed townsfolk welcome visitors and give demonstrations in the homes, businesses and shops. Popular stops include a chat with the blacksmith, a demonstration in the print shop and a visit with the clerk at the General store. The restored Interurban #1223 is a must see and a whirl on the historic 1912 CW Parker Carousel is a thrill. Amenities include picnic tables, a gift shop and an ice-cream parlour offering meals and snacks.
