In this drop-in virtual workshop series you will learn and talk through everything you need to know about applying for arts grants in Canada regardless of creative discipline.

The first 30 minutes of each session will be focused on the drop-in theme. For the second half of the session, you'll have the opportunity to ask questions, review past or upcoming grant proposals you've written and receive guidence from the facililtor.

This workshop series is applicable to all artists, creatives and arts professionals working in any discipline: dance, film, literature, music, theatre, new media, visual art, and more. The focus will be in the funding landscape in the GTA.

This drop-in series will cover the following topics:

How the landscape of arts granting works in Canada locally, provincially, and nationally and the similarities and differences in what they fund and in their application process.

Tips, models, strategies and practices for proactive and care-centered grant writing, including tips on time management, accessing available support, peer review, navigating online grant systems, and models for engaging in the application process in a healthy way.

Learn the main components to successful grant-writing, such as supplementary materials, speaking to the grant officer, budgets, and more.

An overview of specific development and mentorship grants that support artists, including an overview of specific grants to support emerging artists.

Review key questions found in many applications across the different councils and considerations/best practices for responding to them.

Monday, November 18 - Curatorial Grants

Monday, December 16 - Grants for Writers and Theatre Artists

Monday, January 20 - Grants for Black, Indigenous, and people of colour (BIPOC) Artists

All sessions will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM EDT on Zoom.
