About

Join us for the Opening Reception of "Mapping Memory", a solo exhibition by Lilian Bonin in the Contemporary Gallery! The exhibition will run from September 25 to November 22, 2025.

About

This body of work explores origins of place and family. It considers family stories, memory and reconciliation.

A space is created that acknowledges the impact of conquest geography. Personal and historic archives are revisited to make sense of childhood memories. Fragmentation and identity are inherent to the story of Canada, and to my story. Colonialism permeates our footsteps in Assiniboia. The impact of the Metis on Manitoba is not cancelled, but becomes more and more evident.

These works offer a visual perspective of my Metis experience on the land on which we stand. They explore loss in the hope of reconciling the future. They are evidence of existence and remembrance.
