About
For over 190 years, Knox Presbyterian Church Sixteen has served the spiritual and religious needs of the early Scottish settlers. Situated at the entrance to what is known today as Lions Valley Park, this heritage church is an excellent example of the churches that were built in Upper Canada in the early 1800s. The tour will highlight the various stages of architectural design of the church building, including the early gothic revival style that was prominent in churches built at the time.
Organizer
Knox Presbyterian Church Sixteen
Knox Presbyterian Church Sixteen (Knox 16) is a historic congregation rooted in Oakville since 1845, located beside Lions Valley Park. The church and cemetery are recognized as a designated Cultural Heritage Landscape for their deep ties to the early settler community and Gothic Revival architecture. Today, Knox 16 is embracing a new vision centered on contemplative worship, creation spirituality, and ancient prayer practices. Alongside its restoration efforts, Knox 16 seeks to offer both a sacred gathering place and a welcoming space for the wider community.
