About
Our Culture Days program is a 3 and a half hour animation workshop, where participants will be taught and guided by 3 professional stop motion animators to plan and animate their own short animated film.
For Culture Days, we are encouraging participants to bring in a small item that's important and relevant to the your heritage. We will provide cameras, lighting, computers and other tools to help teach you to bring your object to life, while also giving you an opportunity to write and voice a short piece about your item and it's culture.
By the end of the workshop, everybody will have had a chance to create their unique work of film, which we will then screen altogether and learn a little something about everybody's unique heritage and cultural identity. Through the magic of stop motion!

Tye Down Pictures
Tye Down Pictures is an animation studio focusing primarily in the medium of stop motion. Founded by GTA based animators Edwin Alvarenga, Akash Jones, and Nik Radulovich, Tye Down Pictures aims to bring Stop Motion Animation to the forefront of animated entertainment and art. Working closely with other artists in the GTA, the crew of Tye Down Pictures has had a hand in the creation of numerous stop motion productions - from short films, to TV, to music videos and advertisements, we've done it all.
We also have hosted a number of workshops to teach newcomers helpful tips and techniques to help foster creativity as well as a love for the medium. Truly, we are big fans of one of the oldest forms of animated film making, and we love to share that dedication and knowledge to anyone who may be considering pursuing this artform.
The three of us are new to Culture Days, but are not new to culture, as each of us come from completely different places in the world with unique heritages. Miraculously, our individual families all ended up in the GTA just in time for the three of us to be united through our love and passion for film making and animation. During our Culture Days program, we aspire to bring that sort of unification to others.
