About

Season to Taste: A Recipe Exchange Workshop

What are the important recipes in your life? Which ones have stayed with you or passed from hand to hand? Whether it's a 'go to' recipe for weekday dinners or a signature recipe for special occasions, the food we make and how we make it often carries traces of who we are, how we live, and where we have been.

On October 8, Cinevolution invites you to bring 1-2 recipes that have travelled with you or your family, and to share stories of how the recipe has evolved alongside your own experiences of migration. Have you added certain new ingredients or replaced others? Are there unique spices or dried goods that you bring back with you each time you travel? Do you make the recipe differently compared to others in your family or your community?

Join us at the Chinese Bunkhouse (5180 West water Dr, Richmond) for an intimate conversation about recipes as a portal into stories of culture, place, migration, and diaspora.

This workshop was inspired by Episode 4 of the In Tanglement podcast, featuring Annie Canto and Kimberly Ho 何文蔚 who speak with host Rebecca Wang 王晨釔 about the role of food in their life and work and their experiences growing up in immigrant and mixed race families. Coming on October 4!

Light refreshments will be provided.
