About
Discover artfully painted pianos outdoors in unexpected places - in parks, plazas and heritage sites! The sixth annual Richmond Pianos on the Street program provides five open air publicly accessible pianos throughout Richmond. The Pianos on the Street Program is sponsored by the City of Richmond Public Art Program and Pacey’s Pianos in partnership with local community groups and artists.
Artists as young as five years old from Thompson Community Association's, Terra Nova Nature Camp have delightfully recreated the story of the much loved Peter Rabbit on the Terra Nova Rural Park piano.
Community members of all ages and musical abilities are invited to play and enjoy the pianos now through to the end of September.

The Public Art Program sparks community participation in the building of our public spaces; offers public access to ideas generated by contemporary art; encourages citizens to take pride in public cultural expression; and creates a forum to address relevant themes and issues.
The benefits of public art are numerous. It has the power to energize our public spaces, arouse our thinking and transform the places where we live, work, and play into more welcoming and beautiful environments that invite interaction. Public art can make strangers talk, children ask questions and calm a hurried life. Beyond its enriching personal benefits, public art is a true symbol of a city’s maturity.
