About
The Doukhobor Discovery Centre is hosting another Borshch Cook-off this fall. This year’s event will take place Saturday, October 14, 2023. It will be held on the grounds of the Doukhobor Discovery Centre located at 112 Heritage Way in Castlegar, BC. The event will begin at 11am and conclude at 1pm.
Entrance or admission is open through donations or pay-what-you-may. Guests to the cook-off will receive a specialty-designed mug on entry. All guests will be able to try the varieties of borshch prepared by our competing participants.
Our panel of three judges will decide on a winner, who will be presented with a custom-made Borshch Cook-off trophy. A separate award will also be given for the people's choice.
Come celebrate Canada’s cultural diversity and learn more about Doukhobor history and culture at this year’s Borshch Cook-off!

Doukhobor Discovery Centre
The Doukhobor Discovery Centre (DDC) is a public museum dedicated to sharing and preserving the historic cultural heritage of the Doukhobor people in a traditional communal village setting. The DDC is a replica of a traditional Doukhobor communal village and was built following the design of former communal villages that once stood in Ootischenia, Glade, and Pass Creek. It is home to over 1,600 aritfacts that illuminate the Doukhobors' history and Canada's cultural diversity.
